We wish you a knitting Christmas and a knitting New Year...

Christmas this year was full of knitting. Not the dreaded deadline knitting (I managed to get everything done well before the day) but the relaxed easy going knitting associated with holidays and nothing better to do.
First of all, what I finished. Heather's sweater did have a bit of a deadline, as I wanted her to have it before going up to Chapleau the Friday before X-Mas. It was done on Thursday evening at 8:30 p.m. Loved doing the top down sweater, but would recommend learning about a stretchy bind of for the neck, cuffs and waist. BTW, Heather looks a bit put off here...she is just a bit tired....she was quite happy to get the sweater.

Second, the Scholar Collar. I have been dying to knit this ever since I saw it, but couldn't think of anyone to do it for. Then, I saw a coworker/friend of mine in the elevator one day, with a scratchy hand knit scarf. I asked him about it and he said he didn't know what it was made from but his ex-girlfriend made it. The next day I made the proposal that I knit him a new scarf (no one would be put off by this). Here is my version. Yarn is Mission Falls 1824 Wool (washable merino) lovely to work with. Thinking about knitting Koolhaus hat with the same yarn next. As a thank you, Ian (with Fabio's help) got me a ball of this lovely mohair yarn. I think I will use it as trim on a pair of Mrs. Beetons wrist warmers.

So with these done, I started a few new projects.
I wanted to do something in terms of fundraising for this year's MS Walk, so I decided to knit up a beaded Wisp and raffle it off. For each donation of $25 that person's name will be put into 'the hat' (so if you donate $100, your name will go in 4 times).

Finally, this log cabin blanket has been on my list of things I want to knit for sometime. The yarn was part of a kit that I bought for $15 at the Textile Museum's annual Yardage Sale, but I didn't feel like knitting up the kit. The black might be a bit heavy for a baby, but it helps the colours pop out and would be good for a kid (or at least I hope so).

So, today being the day after Boxing Day, Eden and I are off for a long lunch hour to go to Romni for their annual Boxing Day sale. On the list for things to buy, more Mission Falls Wool (for the hat), Mission Falls Soft Ball Cotton (to finish the blanket), yarn for a Celtic tote bag and some yarn for a pair of Mrs. Beetons. Looks like 2008 will be a good knitting year too.

Like Jacquie, I am not leaving a comment in people's blogs. But my reason is I am tired (at 9:51 p.m. on a Friday night) and really should be going to bed (such a party animal). I do appreciate her thinking of me and including me in this little exercise.
